My first problem is I recently went from a cartridge filter to a Hayward pro sand filter. When I backwash is it normal to see sand in the sight glass. My second question is I went to leslies pool and they said my cyanuric acid is at 200 ppm. Is that dangerous? I am in a hurry to swim so any info will help.

It is normal to see a little sand in the sight glass when you backwash.

A CYA level of 200 is not "dangerous" but it does mean that unless you run higher than normal chlorine levels that you will constantly be fighting algae. Take a look at the Best Guess Chlorine Chart in my signature below for more info about that. It also means that you should not be using any forms of stabilized chlorine since they add more CYA. That means no trichlor tabs and no dichlor shock powder.

Hope this helps. Welcome to the Pool Forum!

I'm never confident of pool store numbers. That's why we recommend a good FAS-DPD test kit like the Taylor K-2006 or K-2006C.

200ppm for stabilizer IS high but you can keep your pool clean by keeping your FC between 10 and 15--it won't hurt anything and you'll probably not have to add chlorine much once it's settled at that level.
