Just purchased an Intex 10' x 30" pool and am wanting to follow the "Kiddie Pool Care" guidelines fron the website to set it up. The specific name brands/products mentioned seem to have been discontinued and I'm having a hard time finding the correct products by chemical name alone. Updated brand/product info would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Here you go:

1. If it's available in your area, get the HTH 6-way kit from Walmart (http://www.walmart.com/ip/HTH-6-Way-Test-Kit/17043668). Otherwise, you'll have to get a cheapie OTO kit as you can find it. The test kit info page in my sig tells more.

2. Borax is available at most Walmarts and many grocery stores.

3. An easy way to chlorinate is to use PLAIN 6% household bleach to shock and trichlor tabs in a floater to maintain chlorine levels:

Kem-Tek 3" Trichlor 24lb (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001BOYJPQ/poolbooks)
Kem-Tek 879 Pool Floating Tablet Dispenser (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000FJVRAS/poolbooks)
DO NOT BUY trichlor locally: almost everything being sold is voodoo blends of trichlor and goop. Sams Club has PoolBrand unblended trichlor at an excellent price, but the 40# bucket is way too much for you; you do NOT want to store it over the winter. The prices at Amazon are fairly good, and the products linked are unblended trichlor and a decent floater. You can get free 2-day delivery by signing up for the Amazon Prime trial; just remember to cancel it if you don't want to keep it. (If you buy a lot from Amazon at Xmas, you may want to keep it! I'm a late shopper and depend on it.)
