The plumbing is in!! Rebar Tuesday and Gunite next Monday. Completion by 6/15/12!
So..being the pool itself is almost complete..when I fill it, I want to get the chemistry right the first time.
Pool will be close to 21k gal. SWG,(which I am getting conflicting stories on when to fire it up...Pentair C/S told me off the record to use it at start up as the filter should remove any particulates that could harm it)
Our water is EXTREMELY hard (no # yet..just ordered the Taylor kit from Amazon this morning ;) )
Is their a guideline I am missing in the forum, for new pool start up procedures?
Thank you for the wonderful site...I can't wait to get swimming!

Follow the start up procedure that your plasterer/builder recommends since the warranty on the work will depend on following their instructions. There are several different way to start new plaster (conventional, acid, bicarbonate) and which method your builder will want you to use depends on various factors and the materials used so following his advice is your best bet. Usually they say NOT to run a SWCG for the fist 30 to 60 days since damage to the SWCG is not the issue. It is damage to the curing plaster from the salt. Good news is trichlor is an excellent source of chlorne for new plaster since ti does help control the fast pH rise you will see to a limited extent. Get an inexpensive floater or two for the trichlor tabs. Don't add salt or put the SWCG on line until the plaster has cured somewhat and the builder says it is ok.
