I haves worked with chlorine in fiberglass pool for 20 years, works well, at parents home.
Put in above ground vinyl liner pool at my home last summer. Tired of fighting it. Please help me convert.

Hi Michelle;

+ You'll need a Taylor K-2006 to start with. (see testkit info page linked in my signature)
+ And, I'll need details about your pump / filter make / model.
+ Finally, I need to know how important it is to you to avoid blue-green stains. (If you don't care, it's easier).

Meanwhile, get a cheap OTO / phenol red kit and start testing pH and chlorine with it. Keep chlorine levels in the 0.5 - 2 ppm range. Keep the pH in the 7.0 - 7.4 range - use muriatic acid (see link in sig) as needed. If you need to raise the pH, use borax, NOT pH UP or other soda ash based products.
