Hello Everyone,

I have Purex Triton FNS Plus 180007 (FNSP 36 180007 36 sq. ft. 62 in.) DE Filter. Pool is cloudy and I confirmed that the filter is passing DE and other stuff back into the pool. After further investigation the filter has a cracked manifold and one of the grids is broken. Damage most likely occurred with the previous owners.

Question ... I already ordered the replacement assembly; should I add DE and run the current filter as-is? or should I leave the pump off for four days, this is how long it will probably take for the new assembly to arrive? Looking for suggestions, pool is already pretty cloudy and there is a lot of DE on the bottom of the pool. Chlorine and PH are ok at the moment.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

You could put the filter into recirculate mode to continue to chlorinate/circulate the pool. It just won't be filtering which isn't a big deal. The important thing is the keep the FC up so that you won't have a bigger mess down the road.

Thanks for the response. I actually did that this morning and eventually noticed the slow but steady flow of water escaping from the waste/backwash line. It looks like I need a new spider gasket for my multi-port too. I guess I have some more work to do ... I currently have the pump off but might get the filter back online tomorrow even though DE is escaping. Appreciate the suggestion.

Welcome to The Forum!

A temporary fix for the leaking backwash line is to simply plug it. This would allow you to keep the water circulating, which would allow you to add chems to the pool, while you're waiting for the parts.

If you need help with replacing themanifold, grids or spider gasket - just give a whistle:)
