I have a Hayward pump. When I opened my pool this year, the impeller was stuck. I took it apart and freed it. I had to do the same thing last year. I put it back together, now I have a leak, out of the bottom of the pump. I replaced the gasket--still leaking. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum.
'Out the bottom' almost sounds like a seal. Specifically which pump (model #) and which gasket did you replace? Am also wondering why the impeller was stuck.

I have on also that sometimes sticks, there is a slot on the end of the motor that I turn to get it going. usually happens at beginning of year, most likely the brushes...

Sounds like a shaft seal. Follow this link for a breakdown of the pump and instructions on how to replace it.

Forgot to mention there is another gasket/O-ring between the pump housing parts that could leak. Mine leaks on the side every Spring but it could leak out the bottom too. So far I've just retorqued the 4 bolts and it stops. This year the ring is so squashed it wouldn't stop leaking so I got a new ring this year but haven't installed it yet. Only a drip or two until the motor heats up a little. Also, there are no brushes in these motors. Just a centrifugal switch for starting.
