 The pool build has gone smoother than I ever could have hoped for until today. We are doing an onyx/black bottom pool and the plaster was applied yesterday. The pool company said with the black it is a 2 day process so the pool fill did not begin yesterday. They said they would be back today to acid wash and begin filling the pool. No one showed and we called to see where the workers were and were assured that someone would be out today and that no longer looks likely. The pool company said don't worry about the curing process (that was when they thought someone would be out today to start the fill). Several questions.

1.Should we be overly concerned with the plaster curing without water for what looks like at least 48 hours? All the info I've found and even the pool builders construction manual say the pool needs to be filled immediately.

2.Why the delay on the fill because of the black/onyx color? Does it require an extra acid wash?

We also found 3 chipped tiles and I am wondering what we will get into getting them replaced. We do have extra tile but are unsure what the job entails.

1. Is replacing the tile a major job?

2. What kind of issues problems will we encounter with the tile replacement?

Many, Many thanks for any replies.

If the plasters are using a high end aggregate plaster and you have not had a lot of hot weather or wind you should be fine. The only thing to watch is that they do not over expose the plaster with the acid, because its harder to expose the plaster the longer you wait. The broken tile is not a big deal if the pool company puts someone experienced on it.
