We have a 25,000 gallon, in-ground, gunite pool built in the 80's. It has a few rows of ceramic tiles near the top, and cement block coping stones surround the pool and overhang it by a few inches. The track for a Cover Pools cover is attached to the underside of the overhanging coping stones.
With age many of the tiles have popped off and the coping stones are beginning to crumble despite application of concrete sealer. I have asked that some local contractors swing by to give me some ideas on repairing or remodeling the pool before big chunks of coping stone fall into it, but they seem to be tied up with building new pools. Any ideas out there on what might be the most cost effective way to approach this? Or should I just buy a vinyl pool and have it installed inside the existing one?
Thanks!
