I am thinking of having a pool and spa installed and the following was recommended as top of line:
2 hp jandy pump
3/4 hp polaris pump with model 380 auto cleaner
Zodiac Fusion mineral purification system with auto chlorinator
Aqua-Cal heat pump model 120 (113,000 btu)
2 colorlogic led lights by Hayeard and led spa light
Jandy pda-ps6 remote control system
Jandy never lube 3 way valves
Jandy 1 1/2 hp air blower for spa
The spa is 7 ft inside diameter with 8 thermo jets
Please advise any comments will be appreciated

I don't think anyone here would pick Jandy's gear as their first choice, but my own experience with it is rather limited. Polaris is generally good -- even though Jandy / Zodiac owns them. I think -- but someone else may correct me -- that the 380 is one of the 'good' pressure side cleaners.

"Mineral" systems are all useless . . . or worse. Worse is when they stain the pool and blond hair. Zodiac bought the great pool placebo, Nature2, and has marketed the heck out of it. Lots of people have them. But, they still don't do much of anything, except improve your builder's financial health.

I'll make two more points, and then let others take it from there:
1. Spring time is a pool builder's market; fall is a pool owner's market. But, in-ground pools ordered in spring are usually not ready till late summer, except in s. Florida.
2. Many good pool builders are pool chemistry idiots -- don't dump a builder because he doesn't know pool chemistry, but don't trust him in that area, either.

Thanks for the quick reply. What is wrong with Jandy? What do you reccomend and why?
