DE in pool water

After pumping seven pounds of DE into a 79,000 gallon pool... how do you get the DE back out? I accidentally sent 7 pounds of DE into the pool when the pumps were on recirculation instead of filtering. Ooops. The pumps are now filtering but how do I get the DE out, short of leaving the pumps on 24/7? :confused:

That is a huge pool! What are its dimensions?

As to the DE, I have no idea. Can you vacuum it out? Is that even feasible with such a large pool? Does DE settle on the bottom?

Just vacuum it out.

Or don't. It will leave debris on the floor, but as long as you don't let your chlorine get low, it won't hurt anything. When some gets it, it will get stirred up, and cloud the water . . . and then some will get filtered out.

(Anna, we vacuum a 200,000 gallon pool 1x per week all summer long -- it takes about 2 hours.)

Anna, the dimensions are 25 by 65 and a jut-out that is 15 by 18. The deep end is ten feet. Great pool! We let it get ahead of us this year because the weather got so hot so fast and we were so busy on the farm!
Love this site... this is what got us started on the BBB system and we love it... bought a great pool testing kit from Ben and refill it every year. Our water is usually sparkling clear with a pH level of 7.5. Hubby is over seventy but when we keep track of the pool (and we will get our act together again) it's usually not so much hard work! We don't have any trees around the pool so the cleaning is pretty easy.
We will probably let the DE settle eventually and try to vacuum it out. It was such a stupid mistake...LOL
