View Full Version : Looking for Suggestions on LED pool lights

My incandescent bulb recently burned out, and I was looking to replace it with something a little more flashy. Google has been a letdown as far as quality reviews of the various LED Pool light systems out there, such as the IntelliBrite 5G, Color Splash 3G, or ColorLogic. Amazon had next to nothing, as well. I found this site and figured it'd be a good resource, so does anyone have suggestions as far as which lights to go with? I'd hate to spend the money on one of these LED fixtures only to find out it wasn't bright enough, or that the feature set was lacking.

For specifics, my pool is 15x30 plaster, with a single light fixture. Fairly shallow at about 5'6" in the deep end. I don't have any yard lights other than the patio lights, so the pool is the central fixture in the yard.

If you could point me to quality reviews, or let me know which fixtures you have and what you like/dislike, I'd appreciate it!

Welcome to the forum -- sorry I can't help.

This is the sort of question that may not get many responses quickly. If you don't get helpful responses, I'd recommend coming back in 3 weeks and posting a 'Bump' comment to put it back up where people will see it. Traffic here will double over the next month, and many more people will take a look in April than in March.

Thanks, mostly looking for experience that other users have had with various equipment. I'm in the process of draining/refilling my pool, I've lived here for three years/two full swimming seasons, and I don't know what kind of maintenance the previous owners had done. I definitely enjoy having a pool and doing all my own work!

I also plan on getting quotes for an attached spa, just to see what something like that would cost. Trying to turn this jumble of a backyard into my own little retreat!

You have read the cautions here about draining a pool? If not, to summarize, it is possible to float a pool out of the ground when draining if the ground water table is high enough. Have you had a lot of rain lately?

Yes, I'm aware of the caution in draining, but I had no issues and I have already completed and refilled my pool. I did a thorough scrub-down of the walls and have my cartridge soaking in detergent overnight in a trashcan. Looking forward to opening the pool for the summer. I know the previous owners had a pool service, so I doubt much attention was paid to the pool beyond 45 minutes every other week or so.

Define "a lot of rain". I live in Bakersfield CA, an area not known for its annual rainfall. ;) Thanks for the concern, though.

Sorry, I didn't mean to insult you, just wanted to be sure... Good luck with your light - sounds like fun. Good luck with your fresh load of water. For this purpose, I'd call alot of rain enough to bring the temporary water table to within a few feet of the surface. This time of year, here on the east coast, my house would float if it weren't for the sump pump.

Well, Pool is filled and chemicals balanced, solar cover in place and just waiting for temps to rise. Should be any day now, Southern California gets warm pretty quick. So, BUMP on this thread to see if any of the other pool owners are waking from hibernation and have a suggestion on what lights to get!

I put in a Pentair Intellibrite 5G last year and love it. Thread about it with photos here: http://www.poolforum.com/pf2/showthread.php?10645-Pentair-Intellibrite-vs-Hayward-Colorlogic
