Hello! Last year we took down our older 24' above ground pool and we're putting up a newer used one this spring. We need to purchase a new liner and I'm wanting to know what thickness I should go with. We had the basic blue 20 mil thickness with the last one and had several patches in it. I've seen that there is a 30 mil thickness. We're definately not going with 20 mil again but should we go with 25 or 30 mil thickness. Not sure if there is any pros/cons with going too thick.

Thanks so much!

Welcome to the Forum!

The thicker the liner the better it should hold up. However, a thicker liner doesn't stretch into the pool as easily as a thinner one - with a standard AG pool, this oughtn't be an issue.

Where were the patches? You could use wall or floor foam to pad those high wear areas.

One more thing - I've heard of a ~ 'scam' wherein liners are sold by "gauge" instead of "mil" - a 25 gauge liner is a good bit thinner than a 25 mil liner. I just wanted to give you a 'heads up' on making sure your liner is as thick as you think it will be :)
