my walmart kit says you can't test for ph with cl levels above 5. I am concerned about my ph as I have shocked the pool and am keeping it that way until the pool completely clears. meanwhile I want to get my ph right. I will order a test kit from poolsolutions but can't this week. any suggestions. my cya is high at 95-100 and I have to keep my chlorine high. my ph was 7.6 before I started keeping my chlorine high but now I really need to see what it is.

Unless you get a kit that can handle pH testing at higher chlorine levels (I believe that Taylor's and Ben's will work up to about 15 ppm chlorine) don't try to adjust your pH until the chlorine level is within range. You won't be able to. If you can't get Ben's full kit right now you might want to consider ordering his ps 200 which is an OTO/pH kit and the pH reagent is the same as the one in the pH234 (you actually get a ps200 in the ps234). It is inexpensive. The Taylor K-1000 is basically the same and can be found at some pool stores. Leslie's sells it relabeled as their own. Ben's kit is a bit less expensive last time I checked the prices.
