I am getting error code EC on my Hayward H400fd series heater. The troubleshooting guide sez it is a communication error between ignition board and display board. Anyone have any experience with this issue?? What is the usual problem??? For instance: One more common than the next. Any advise or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, James, and welcome to the Pool Forum! I don't know about this heater, but hopefully someone will. Once Ben moves your post out into the general section of the forum, you'll get more views and hopefully some answers that can help you figure out what's going on.
Just wanted to say hi and tell you that we are glad to have you join us on the forum!

Thanks, any idea how long it will take to get the post moved into the general section? Seems like I still have restrictions on my account.
Thanks again,
James

Your post has been in the correct section for several days, but you've asked a question that can only be answered by someone with specific similar experience on that particular model of heater . . . which means there are a VERY small pool of people who might be able to help you, and I'm not one of them. If they are willing to help consumers directly, you'd be better off calling Hayward technical support.
As far as your registration, there is no auto-graduation from restricted. You can request an upgrade ("CheckMeOut" 'subscription') which requires that you fill in (if it's not there already) name, address, & phone #, and let me verify them. It's not really a subscription; it's a permanent upgrade, but the info MUST match and be real -- if it doesn't, you lose the $4 AND if the data is squirrely (ie, fabricated or otherwise suspect, you'll get downgraded or banned).
I've already had several spammers pay their $4 and hope I wouldn't actually check them out.(Of course, I really prefer having spammers PAY me to ban them, instead of having to do it for free! But, I'm pretty serious about keeping the PoolForum free of spammers, and free of pool product sale people pretending to be pool owners.
