View Full Version : Leaking pool pipes

Hi forum members,

I have found that my concrete pool has a leak, most likely in one of the return pipes or in the pipe from the skimmer. Since about two weeks ago I can see wet areas on top of the pavement above the piping. In my mind, I have to dig up that side of the pool and inspect where the leak actually is and get it repaired. Any suggestions on alternative methods or sharing of experience are welcome.

Usually, it's better to take a more careful approach to leak location BEFORE breaking concrete.

A suspicion that there MAY be a leak in either the return OR the suction piping pretty much means you haven't eliminated anything. Busting a hole -- which has to be patched -- only to discover, "Oops, that wasn't it" can be pretty discouraging, not to mention expensive!

If you'll send pictures of your pool, deck and pump piping to me at poolforum AT gmail DOT com . . . I'll post them. Once they are up, you may be able to get some more useful suggestions. (PS: when sending pictures, bigger is better. I can reduce them, but I can't make them bigger.)
