Hey all, new to the forum and need some advise. I have an older Kayak pool form a purchase 15 years ago. I took it down and have stored it since then. I want to install an above ground pool again and wondering about the wisdom of building the Kayak back or investing in another pool like a Doughboy. I will have to purchase a few new parts for the kayak but nothing huge - maybe 5 or $600 worth. I have to do the ground work no matter which but was wondering if anyone had any wisdom on the sanity of the older Kayak (which was a good pool years ago) or a newer one?
Thank you,
Mark

There's a really good chance 15 year old plastic pool sheeting will crack, when you try to 'un-store' it. I'd check that out, before going any further.

Question: what would someone expect to pay to have the pool installed? I live in Georgia.

Call the nearest South Central Pool Supply -- http://www.scppool.com/company/branchlocator -- and ask them for the names of some installers that work in your area.
Ask them. Those will be real prices, for your location and your pool. For the most part, only 'guesstimates' are available online.

Hi,
I've unfortunately been away from the forum for a while but that Kayak above ground pool, if it's what I'm thinking it is, is very similar to the FantaSea pool that I have. Both are sold and maintained by PoolSupplies.com.
Almost every piece of a Kayak or FantaSea pool is replaceable from frame, to walls, to liners, to accessories. Many can be up-graded as well. Depending on the size of the Kayak, you WELL may want to re-use it.
But about one thing I agree with Ben 100%: You WILL need a new liner for it. Period. Depending on the size of the pool, that can be pricey. Since I am far more partial to rectangular pools than round or oval ones, unless the condition of the Kayak parts require SO much expenditure, my bias is toward the Kayak.
