According to the MSDS, septic pucks (at least norweco ones) are:
DESIGN DATA
Tablet Size 25/8" diameter, 13/16" thick
Approximate Tablet Weight 5 oz. (140 grams)
Active Ingredient 73% Calcium Hypochlorite – Ca (OCI)2 • H2O
Minimum Available Chlorine 70%
Inert Ingredient Content 27%
EPA Registration 63243-1
Appearance Characteristics White Tablet with Chlorine Odor
Special Design Features Beveled Edges
Sounds interesting except that they are FAR more expensive than regular stabilized chlorine pucks or granular calcium hypochlorite from what I can tell.

I think they dissolve faster and the residual dissipates quicker
