hello all, my wife and i recently inherited her grandparents house, with a 18x36 concrete pool, it may be 20x40, not sure, the pool was built in the 50's and is still beautiful, im guessing its 30 or 40 thousand gallons, 10ft in the deep end 4ft in the shallow end, i have never closed a pool before, today i took apart the hayward de filter and stuck a shop vac in the lines and sucked the water out, we have dropped the water level so there is about half a foot in the shallow end, we skate on it in the winter :) i have tons of questions and queries and look forward to growing my pool knowledge with you, anyone heard of armor guard pool paint? it's like truck bedliner, thinking of doing this in the spring

I cannot recommend strongly enough that you HIRE a competent pool service guy to close the pool for you . . . and watch (or even video) him doing it.

I normally recommend that first timers hire it done, but a pool that old will tend to have more than the usual 'gotchas' . . . and winters in Ontario can do a LOT of damage.
