View Full Version : Pool Pilot Cell 0V, 11A - what did I do wrong?

I've had great luck with my Pool Pilot Digital system (10+ years, 2 cells) so I convinced my neighbor to get one when his old Hayward salt unit failed. I installed it for him, it was a very easy drop in with just a little plumbing work to get the manifold in. Everything looks great, no error messages or warnings, but the system doesn't seem to be producing chlorine. When I go to the menu to test the unit the cell shows 0V and 11 Amps. I disconnected the cable to the cell from the controller there was no change. I would have expected a low current warning. The unit is brand new, what could I have done wrong?
Thanks in advance!

Press the PUMP button. If it says REMOTE RUNS PUMP, you've got to program it for EXTERNAL TIMER or ONE SPEED PUMP (if you're controlling your pump through the DIG).
Run your test mode after letting the cell run in BOOST at least a minute. If it has not been energized, you won't get a good amp and volt reading.

Thanks Sean! That did the trick. I got confused by "remote timer" vs. "external timer". Now I'm watching to make sure we are kicking out enough chlorine, but everything looks great.
