We just filled the pool up. It's lined with Hydrazzo. Can we go ahead and swim until they shock it on Monday? Will it hurt the Hydrazzo? The kids are going crazy not swimming yet :)

#1 - I don't know about "Hydrazzo" -- ask your builder.
#2 - The water is not sanitary. That does not mean it's dangerous -- the ocean is not "sanitary", either -- but it does mean you don't know it's safe.

You probably don't want to hear this, but it also means that if anyone with any kind of illness, including STDs or diarrhea, gets into the pool, everyone else is at risk. What NOBODY in the sanitation business really wants to explain to people is that the real risk is usually what you get from other PEOPLE's poop, spit, snot or skin cells. That's true in the restaurant business; it's true in the medical business, and it's true in pools. The chlorine is there, so you don't get what someone else has already gotten.

That's information that falls into the category of "facts no one WANTS to know, but that everyone NEEDS to know". When you swim in the ocean, "dilution is the solution" . . . usually. In pools, there's not enough dilution for it to be a solution.

So if EVERYONE who's gonna be swimming ALREADY has everything that anyone who swims has . . . there's not much NEW risk.

The water will get gross and green pretty fast, though. People goo is algae food!
