We are about 6 weeks from having a liner pool built ( 24 x 40 w/ auto cover). We have been researching the best type of chlorination systems. There is strong evidence fo salt generation systems, but then you also get a lot of negatives regarding corrosion of metals parts and deteriorating stamped concrete work around the pool deck as well. Seems that many installer's opinions are based on what they typically sell.
Can anyone share some objective advice or experiences?
Thanks.

SWCG's void warranties on most AG pools, and are problematic with auto covers, which typically have aluminum components.
Aluminum is not very compatible with salt.

Thank you Pooldoc for your response. Your response references AG pools? Are you referring to Above Ground? This is an in-ground liner pool with autocover. Please clarify. Thanks.

AG = forum-speak for Above Ground
IG = inground

I think what she is asking you is ---- did the reply you wrote to her apply to her inground pool? (You answered her thinking she had an AG pool.)

I don't know whether SWCG's void IG pool warranties -- my guess is that there ARE warranty problems on pool with metal sidewalls. But the auto-cover issue remains, warranty or not.

I know this is old but, I have the same setup, IG pool with liner (concrete walls), auto-cover and SWCG built last summer. The cover company knew I was using salt and did not void or limit the warranty to my knowledge. What problems should I be on the lookout for in the future?

I would *definitely* talk to the auto-cover maker. Some auto-covers use at least some aluminum, and aluminum is not at all salt-compatible.
