Hello. Just have a quick question on testing combined chlorine with k2006 kit. According to kit instructions, after testing for free chlorine we add 5 drops of some reagant , don't remember the name of that reagant, and then colorless sample should turn pink if combined chlorine is present. Here is my question. When I put the 5 drops of reagant to colorless sample sample stays clear; but only momentarily. I left the sample setting there while brushing the pool and when I came back sample had turned a little pink. Is this normal or should sample turn pink immediately upon adding 5 drops of reagant? Obviously I'm concerned because I don't know if there is cc present or not. Especially now since i'm dealing with an algae problem..thanks in advance.

Please see post #3 in this thread: http://www.poolforum.com/pf2/showthread.php?13047-new-test-kit-checking-combined-chlorine
If you have measurable CCs, that is 0.5 ppm or more in a 10 ml sample, the solution will turn pink immediately. You could try to test on a 25 ml sample which increments at 0.2 ppm but you'll use more reagents and won't really gain any significant information.

thank you so much. one other thing. on that post you say to add 3 drops of said reagant to 10 ml sample and see if it turns pink. however, kit instructs to add 5 drops. is this enough for concern?

5 drops is correct.

That should have said "5 drops of R-0003". Thank you much for pointing it out, I've corrected it in the original thread.
