Been gone for an extended weekend (where nothing was added to the pool) and came back to some cloudy water. We just added roughly a half gallon of bleach to the pool to get the chlorine levels up since it was basically non existent. I am pretty new at all this and managed to have crystal clear water up until now. The pool has been up and filled for a month.

Pool Specs:
18' diameter
Steel sided 52" walls
~7,200 gallons

Water Chemistry:
I have the Taylor K2006 test kit and used it to get these results... after 20 minutes of circulating the chlorine.
FC: 4.6 (I added 23 drops to a 25ml sample to get it to turn clear)
TC: .2 (can this be?)
pH: 7.3
TA: 50
Ca: 50
CYA: a touch lower than 30, probably 25

I would greatly appreciate the help in getting things back up to normal. I have about 4 gallons of bleach on hand so if I need to dump some in, I'm ready.

Thank you,
Eric

Since you dropped down to 0 chlorine and the pool is cloudy now, I think you better shock the pool and maintain it at shock level until you can go from sundown one evening until within 2 hours of sunrise the next day without losing more than 1ppm of cl and your CC is no greater than 0.5ppm. In your pool, each quart of 6% bleach will add about 2ppm of cl. With a CYA level of 25-30, your shock level would be 12-15. Test as many times per day as you can and each time, add enough bleach to get back to shock level. To save your reagents, just use the 10ml sample. 0.5 precision is good enough. BTW -- FC + CC = TC so your chlorine numbers are not quite right.

Run the pump 24/7 right now and clean the filter as necessary.

Do me a favor, please. To make it easier for us to help, if people will create a signature line with their pool specs, it keeps us from having to reread through posts to find out basic information. You can create a signature by clicking on 'settings' in the upper right-hand corner of the homepage. In your sig, please put type of pool, volume, type of filter, size of pump, whether or not you have a SWCG or any water features and the fact that you do or do not have a K-2006. Thanks!
