Just had a new pool installed, came home from work Friday evening and went out to see how high the pool water was. I started to walk the perimeter of the pool and noticed small puddles on the backside of the pool. The pool company sent one of the installers out to check it and they said yes it is for sure leaking. The company says they will send someone out to patch it. We told them we wanted a new liner and they said no they will patch it. Is a new liner to much to ask for we bought an upgraded liner that is supposed to be a better liner? I would prefer a new liner, has anyone here had this problem before with new installs. Any feedback would be great.
Thanks,
Richie B.

I would absolutely demand a new liner. Absolutely. So sorry this is what you are having to deal with.

Welcome to the forum.
New Liner. No question about it. Chances are the patch won't match in color or if it initially does it may not after a couple years. Next, the patch may now be a weak point, and finally, if the liner was the problem who knows if other leak points may develop.

Thanks for the quick replies,we will call them in the morning and tell them it has to be a new liner. Hopefully they will cooperate with us. Being we are new to pool ownership I'm sure we will have plenty of questions for the forum.

Poconos is right about the patch not matching. A couple of years after my liner was installed, I had to patch a couple of places. (A couple of small rocks must have been in the sand under the liner and over time worked their way up to the level of the liner. We decided to throw a patch over it as added insurance that if it did puncture the liner at some point, it would prevent a leak.) I used a piece of an old liner to make my patches. It was not the same pattern, but looked fine and wasn't too noticeable. A year or so later, that wasn't the case. The patch is quite discolored and no longer matches at all and is pretty noticeable. (We think that is probably a result of the adhesive used to hold it down.) I am not concerned about it at this point but if I had a brand new liner like yours, I would be very upset if my pool didn't look perfect.
If there is a leak, it either means defective liner --- which the manufacturer should replace --- or damage during the installation. Either way, not YOUR fault and it should definitely be replaced.
Good luck. Stand firm and let us know how it goes.
