The swcg was giving me an alternating red / green salt level light with a red Power light which meant it needs servicing. The pool is only 2 years old so I called Pentair. They told me to remove the generator and rubber band one side with a plastic bag. I then filled it with muriatic acid and let it sit for a while. My plastic bag was leaking so I continued to refill it periodically, keeping the cell full, for about 10 minutes. There were never a ton of bubbles like I was told their might be...
I did all of this a few weeks ago and reconnected it. Immediately the salt level light was solid green, but the Power light remained red. The pool hadn't seen salt in a while (this was down most of the fall/winter) so I thought adding a bag might get it in gear. The cell responded by updating the salt level, the green light began flashing that it was now high. I turned on 100% output for a few days of ~6-8 hours of operation and the salt level is back down to a solid green.
So right now the problem that remains is the red PWR light. The pool has also been pretty low on chlorine and I'm even supplementing with bleach/tablets so I'm not sure how good the chlorine output is...
