Hi all, We just purchased a new home this spring that came with a 16'x30' above ground pool. The previous owners had used baquacil so we hooked up with the same pool store they used and opened the pool. There was a lot of debris on the bottom of the pool so we finally got that cleaned up and got the water pretty clear. Now though we have algae forming on the walls and floor of pool constantly, that's all I do is clean the pool. I found this forum in searching for answers and I think I have found it with the switch to BBB.

Hi Kevin. Glad to have you onboard. You are making a wise decision to switch away from Baquagoop as we call it. i have two suggestions for you.
1. You're going to need a good testkit. Go ahead and place the order today and order a Taylor K-2006 or 2006C which is the same kit only with larger quantities of some of the reagents. You might actually be better off buying the 2006C because during a conversion, you have to test very frequently and that kit has 2oz. bottles as opposed to 0.75oz. bottles in the 2006. You can order through the Amazon link in my signature below. Only order if the seller listed is Amato Industries as some other sellers send the K-2005 kit instead which you don't want. If Amato isn't listed as the seller, wait a day or so until they restock and then try again. if you go ahead and order, you can get it here quickly so you'll be ready to go.
2. Do a lot of reading here on the forum - especially in the Baquacil section. There you will find the process for converting explained plus you can read of some other forum members experience of how it went. That will give you an idea of what to expect. Also read on our sister website www.poolsolutions.com
Hope this helps. We'll look forward to seeing you around the forum! More questions? Ask away! That is what we are here for!
EDIT: You may have to log out to be able to read in the other forums for now.
