White flakes in pool and spa

I've noticed an accumulation of white flakes on my pool steps but mainly in the spa. Anyone have an idea as to what may be causing this? I have a salt water pool and run it at 65%, the chemical balance has been in flux the past month but working to correct. Hardness was low, ph was high. I recently cleaned the Aquapure cell.

Can you please supply some current water testing results taken with a drops-based kit? We would need those to be able to help. Also, please tell us what type of pool you have, volume, type of filter, size of pump and exactly what all you have added to the pool (ingredients, not just "shock."). Then somebody here can try and help you. Welcome to the forum!

To be sure, you'll need to provide the info Watermom asked for, but some SWCGs produce such flakes when they go through their cleaning cycle.
