Hello all,

I have heard nothing but good things about salt water systems for pools, but the only application I have heard of is in-ground pools. So I was wondering if it is possible to use those systems in above ground pools and is it recommended? If it is, can I buy and install it myself or should I have a pool company install it?

The pool I have is a 26' above ground pool. I am not sure what other information you would need.

Thank you,

lndknox

Larger AG pools tend to have more exposed metal than IG pools. Salt water drying on that metal can definitely accelerate corrosion. How much of a problem will that be? I don't actually know.

Thank you for the quick reply. The whole top of my pool has a metal rim, but I think its made out of aluminum. Very good point and I will have to look into what is exposed and has the possibility to corrode.

I'm a total noob here, but researched the same thing. Supposedly, this voids many mfr warranties for the reason Ben points out. May want to consider that as well.
