attaching blanket to above ground pool roller

Good Morning,
We lost our instructions on how to attach blanket straps to roller in 27ft round pool. My husband says that it is impossible to do it in the pool and we want to drag it to the lawn and attach straps there with blanket folded in half and attach to to roller then roll it up and then drag it back to middle of pool to mount on stands. It seems like a lot of work to do it this way and fear we may tear our new blanket dragging it over the deck.
Is there an easier proper way to do this???

I wish somebody would come up with a good way to use a solar cover on a round AG. What a pain! I would never not use mine because it keeps me from losing so much heat at night, but such a pain to figure out what to do with it when off the pool.

I used to just drag it on my pool deck. I know. I know. Looks bad and is probably not good for it.

Al (fellow mod - Poconos) came up with an idea for me. Cut the cover into fourths and roll each piece on a long piece of capped PVC and then lift out of the water. Repeat with the 3 remaining pieces of cover. (Each piece on its own PVC, not all on the same one. It would be way too heavy to lift out of the pool.) We also cut a couple of small little semi-circles "clips" from PVC (maybe an inch wide?) to go on the ends of the pipe to keep the cover from unrolling off of the pipe. That worked pretty well except that last year, when I would lift them out of the water and stack them on the deck, I didn't cover them with a white sheet or whatever. They got really hot and the cover disintegrated pretty fast. (Although, actually it was my 2nd season with that cover and they typically don't last more than 3 seasons for me anyways.)

Just bought another cover the other day. First time I actually bought one that was round. Usually when you buy one made for a round pool they are rectangular and you just have to do the best you can with it. So, I'm gonna try my system again with the PVC and cover it this time with a white sheet to see if that will help to keep it from getting so hot. I'm sure I must have scooped 67 gazillion blue bubbles out of my pool this spring!

So, I guess I didn't actually answer your question about AG pool rollers and hopefully someone else will come along who can. Just wanted to share what we have done. I wonder if you could use some of the little PVC clips like I made to hold it on? Just saw a couple of one-inch pieces of PVC. Then, cut them into halves so you have two semi-circles. Maybe that would hold it on??

To add to the above, don't know the diameter of your roller but the clips Watermom was talking about were cut from 1.5" pipe, as she said, about an inch wide. Then cut out a small section, maybe 30 degrees of angle. That will spring over a 1.5" diameter pipe. PVC can bend a lot so it's like a spring clip. Use a pipe diameter to match your roller diameter. If you need to stretch it some, PVC softens in boiling water so you can open it up and let it cool.

Thank you, but I think I may have been misunderstood by my post. My problem is that my water is still 67 degrees so we cannot get in the pool to connect the blanket to roller and we want to attach our new blanket to the roller. Our space is limited on the deck so we were thinking of removing the blanket from the pool and lay it out on our lawn and then attach straps to the roller and carry it back assembled to pool. Problem is we lost the roller strap attaching instructions and not sure how to do this, so we may wing it,lol
