Hello,
Recently when I open the "burp" valve on top of my sand filter there is a whole
lot of air that needs to be purged. Even after releasing it the filter will fill up with air
again in a few hours. Could it be a leak in the multivalve? I do not see anything obvious
around the pump, pump basket, or piping.
Thanks!

It could possibly be a leak in the multivalve, but I would think that it wouldn't fill with air that fast--sounds like a bigger leak to me. ONe of the equipment experts should be by shortly to give you some useful info, but just wanted to welcome you to the forum!

Welcome to the Forum!
Air is going to be caused by a suction side issue - either a leaking line pulling air in or a problem at the skimmer, like the water level too low or the skimmer 'door' (weir) stuck in the up position.
Do you see air in the pump basket?
Give us enough info and a little time and we ought be able to help you determine the cause and then we'll help you firure out the best way to address the issue.

Thanks, I appreciate the responses. I only see the occasional grain sized bubble swirling around in the pump basket. One thing I did find
over the weekend is it only happens when I have the main drain line open and the skimmer line closed. When I open both lines the filter
stays completely filled with water. Perhaps the is a leak in my main drain line then? The water level is fine, no air sucked into the skimmers,
and the weirs are flapping like they should. I did order a new gasket for the pump lid, the current one is a a few years old and was rarely lubed.

Thanks for the feedback!
It sure sounds like a 'pin hole' leak in the MD line. I'd say it's something to keep an eye on, but not loose sleep over :)
