Good Afternoon,

I have recently purchased a house with a fanta-sea or kayack above ground plywood pool with a deep end. The pool is 24x12 and the plywood is pushed in and rotten probably from lack of water in the pool. I have made the decision to repair it however i have a few questions,

1. how can you tell the difference between kayac and fanta-sea?
2. Can you change the plywood from the inside without pulling the deck off the top?
3. the liner must be deep at one end. i did see these liners for sale but around my pools deep end there is an approx 1 foot step all around. i was told this was the industry standard back in the day and that you must fether it from the corners and there is a dimension that you must follow to fit the liner. does anyone know or have a diagram or the bottom?
4. what material do you use on the bottom? vermiculite? sand mix?

any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Lou

I guess I'm the ranking FantaSea expert as I have one.

The best source for information and parts for both brands is PoolSupplies.com They make (or made) FantaSea.

If the deck around the pool is hollow poly, with pipes underneath, it's a FantaSea solar heated pool, F does have a non-solar model but I don't know much about it. If I saw pics of the outside of the pool and the fittings, I might be able to tell the rest.

So your questions.
1. See above
2. Yes. You can put in aluminum/plastic wall instead, too. The frame is self-supporting.
3. If it's FantaSea, they have it and I have it. It may be on their website. The shelf goes out, I think, 18", then slopes down to a flat bottom (If it's the 5.5' deep end. The slope from the shallow end of the pool is longer and gentler than the other 3. If it's a 7.5' deep end it's more cone-shaped

Here's the outside close up of my fantasea:

And here's a look (sort of) of the deep end:

You can see the solar decking as well.

A visit to PoolSupplies will give you endless pics of the fittings and options for both kayak and fantasea.

Carl,

Thank you so much for your information and your pool is awesomehttp://thumb19.webshots.net/t/83/183/9/22/67/2065922670081081439wAVjSP_th.jpg. I attached some pics of when i bout the house, try not to laugh lol. I think the structure is ok i cleaned out the trees and grass now and i want to do replace the plywood this weekend and order the liner. I havent noticed pipes under the aluminum deck but im going to look later. Any input or advise would be much appeciated on the manufacturer or the rebuild process. I look forward to hearing from you,

thanks,
Lou
