After trying various ways to add CYA to the pool that is most effective in dissolving it in record time, I came up with the following "patented" ;) method.
Using a pool rake with a fine mesh basket, place it so that the basket is over one of the returns which has been adjusted slightly upwards to direct the flow onto the mesh part. I use a concrete cinder block as a counterweight.
The method has the following advantages:
1. I can dissolve 2 lbs of CYA in about 24 hours.
2. I can still keep on vacuuming and maintain flow to the SWG, which would have been questionable, if the CYA had been poured through the skimmer. I have a DE filter.
3. The return jet creates a substantial disturbance in the mesh basket, to help the CYA dissolve faster.
Hope this helps.
