How to add DE

I used to add it in the skimmer mixed with water on the FILTER cycle.

My pool closer said to add to the RINSE cycle. Is this proper?

I guess that would be OK -- it would prevent any small cloud of DE powder from blowing back into your pool when you first are 'building' the precoat. Of course, it would waste quite a bit of water, too.

Good to know thanks. Ever since we got the pool four years ago I never had to top it off due to rainfall. So water loss isn't a problem so far.
