VAC first or Brush First..

Is there a correct sequence for this? Should a pool be vaccumed first then brushed or vice versa?

If you do both regularly it probably won't make much difference.

But, if you're going to do one right after the other, vacuum first and then brush. Brushing will stir up and suspend, at least briefly, the dirt that settles to the bottom of the pool, preventing you from vacuuming it up unless you wait for it to settle again (though some of it will be picked up by the skimmmers and drains before it has a chance to foul the bottom again).

Here in SE AZ we get a great deal of wind between Jan and April. If the pool gets exceptionally dirty with sand or sediment, you may notice some of the dirt may adhere to the walls. In this case, I prefer to give the walls a light swipe with the brush to dislodge dirt, wait 15 minutes and than vacuum.

Here's an example:

I do weekly service for a client who lives on a golf course. He has an open wrought iron fence for the boundary of his backyard overlooking the the bottom leg of hole # (?) which so happens to also have a sand trap located 30 yards due SW of his pool. SW incidentally is where most of our high winds come rushing off the mountain range about 6 miles distant. He has no Kreepy Krauly or Hayward Pool Vacs. He does have what are called in-floor turbo heads for "cleaning" his pool. However, they do not nearly keep up with the debris load. The long & short of it is that his in-floor "cleaning" heads just stir the "pot" enough to throw a bunch of dirt on his walls.
