Just came across an opinion paper by one Ben Powell as I was looking for something else in my collection of JSPSI, paper dated 1995 - pH ranges, sodium bicarb and alkalinity, chloramines, copper silver, etc. Very enjoyable reading.

Perhaps Ben could share his memories of that era, where was pool chemistry at that point in time, the industry etc. I don't think there was much internet and pool forums around at that time. I get the feeling it was an exciting period, what with the technical symposiums the JSPSI sponsored, the symposia-in-print etc. All these people getting together and producing this peer-reviewed Journal. I see Kim Skinner on another board, I've spoken to Hales a few times, Robert Lowry is giving CPO courses I understand, I wonder what Wojotwicz is up to.

FYI. The JSPSI articles are now online here (http://jspsi.poolhelp.com/).

Yeah, I was thinking that "a history of the pool biz as I experienced it" might be interesting, especially if we could get several people involved. It's hard to believe I've been doing this for over 25 years, now.

Email me this fall, and remind me. It's definitely not a project for pool season.
