I am having a new "saltwater" capable pool put in. I am wondering if I should start out with conventional chlorine and then migrate to salt later in the season. Any recommendations out there?

If you're getting a 'crete' pool, the 'plaster finish' needs to cure before adding the salt! As such, you'd need to use another form of chlorination for the ~ month it takes for the surface to cure.

Depending on your fill water chemistry, tri-chlor, di-chlor, cal-hypo or bleach (sodium chloride/ liquid chlorine) could be used until the SWCG is 'on line'.

*The more we know about your pool, the better we can advise you!*

It is a new in ground gunite pool just about ready to be plaster . They said one the plaster is on start filling it with city water. They mentioned nothing about curing the paster first. Please tell me anymore questions I should ask prior to startup...this is all new to me. Are there any general guidelines out there that can be shared?
