Well ist finally starting to thaw. But the pools still under atleast a foot of snow and ice! I do know however that the pool is probably brown/green. Last year the pump moter was working only 50 % so it never really got that clean. This year theres a new pump moter and housing. Hopefully this year I can get it sparkling like it always did. The pool i take care of is my grandparents but everyone uses. We will probalby put in 5 gallons of liguid chlorine to shock it and kill the alge that grew into it and then give it a through scrupping with the hand vac. Does anyone have any other ideas that I could possible use to help make this year cleaner. I'm always up for ideas to reduce maintenance and chemical costs.

Its an inground pool not exactly sure on size. but 8 feet deep. Its also about 30+ years old. The liner was replaced a few years ago. It has a de filter and a heater.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

Leave the water up when you open the pool and either vacuum to 'waste' (if your multiport allows that) or use the extra water to backwash the filter (if the pool is a swamp, you'll probably have to do a number of backwashes)

There's info on cleaning a DE filter stickied at the top of the Pool Equipment and Operations forum
