Salt related question

Hi everyone,

I have a question about salt levels. I live in Texas and need to add 1 inch of water or so to my pool every 2 weeks to make up for evaporation (I hope!). Weather has been cold (yes 50-60 degreers is cold), very dry and windy. I imagine the salt level would be a little different before and after refilling that inch opf water but how can they go down over time? Salt itself does not "evaporate"....

My pool is 4 months old, SWG, gunnite, 12,000 gallons.

You are correct that salt will not leave the pool from evaporation:cool:

However, if you have been backwashing or have had lots of splashout, some of the salt would leave with the pool water.

If you are loosing 1" of water/ day to evaporation, you should see the salinity come up a little and then drop back down to normal once the pool is refilled.
