27,000 IG plaster pool

I opened a week ago, shocked, tested had 0 CYA, low PH, low calcium, low alkilinity.

I shocked, added borax, then calcium, then baking soda, then cya. As of today I have these test numbers:

TDS 500
CYA 34
Tot CL 1.5
Free CL 1.5
PH 7.7
tot ALK 96
adj ALK 86
tot hardness 98

water is clear and blue. I think I'll add some bleach, but other than that are my numbers ok? Thanks in advance for your feedback

Good morning,

Those are good numbers...especially since your water looks so good.

Your CYA test should yield results like 20, 30, 40, etc.......not 34. If that's a pool store test, I would buy Ben's kit. You'll do FAR better testing your own water. Yeah, I'd keep my Cl up around 3-5ppm. Good work! :)

Dave S,

Shouldn't this hardness level get up a little higher as he has a plaster pool?
