I have a friend who recently bought a house with a fiberglass in ground pool.
The previous owners recommended that they empty about half of the water out of it
when closing it. Sounds strange to me, what do you think?
No light, all plumbing external. the ex owners have sealead all the original
underground plumbing off.

What was their reasoning for emptying half the water? Sounds like an invitation to "float" the pool if they do it that way, but then again I don't close my pool. Just curious.......
And why did they seal off the underground plumbing?

No idea why the plumbing was sealed off. Now they just have hoses running in and out of the pool to the filter.
In PA. we freeze.
