I want to build an above ground pool so that it's the same height as my side porch (5' above ground). I want to spray gunite or shotcrete but I'm a little confused about the actual construction method. I've had some people tell me they would construct it with concrete blocks, while others say they would put up concrete forms and pour the walls. Has anyone done this or have suggestions on how THEY would do it?

Pool would be 16' x 30' with 3' shallow and 6' deep end.

thanks.

In my area of Florida the "soil" around the pool shell is sand. It won't hold a shape like it does in most areas. As a result they use this tar paper like substance that is reinforced with a wire mesh, then comes rebar, and finally they shoot the pool.

I have no idea how well this would work for an elevated wall, but my PB (hope the link is allowed) has some construction pics of the tar paper stuff I'm talking about (a picture is worth way more than a thousand of my words) http://www.icpoolspa.com/images/722_DSC04172.JPG
