I'm trying to figure out how to install my own liner, and haven't found anything very helpful.

These instructions were on a site called PoolRepair.com: Prep Work for a New Liner (http://www.poolforum.com/faq/liner.html)

Are these OK, or should I keep looking?

HI John,

Do you have the older type of liner that folds over the top of the steel side wall, or do you have the newer type liner that snaps into a rail? If you have the old type that folds over the top, do your self a favor and buy a new set of the plastic liner clips that are about 3 feet long and clip all the way around the pool. Also, prior to removing the top rail, mark everything with a sharpie, EVERYTHING. It will make reassembly much easier. Profesisonal installers do this.

If you are reasonably happy with the pool location, level, depth, etc. replacing the liner is not that difficult. Most new liners have a seam or seams that run across the diameter of the liner. You want to make sure that when you install the new liner that this seam is not placed over a skimmer or discharge port.

The part in your link where it says to warm up the liner is good advice, we laid ours out in the sun for a good hour to "Warm up" before actually installing it. It helps to hav a few extra hands wnen installing the new liner, we actually had a couple dozen of those plastic coated spring clamps to clip the liner to the side wall as we worked our way around the pool. Wooden spring type clothes pins may also work.
