We had a viking pool installed last week and today the people came to pour the concrete around it. Everything was going well until the rain started.

We were able to save the concrete but during the heavy rain the concrete got soaked and turned the pool water brown/tan (we were using colored concrete) the concrete now looks great but the pool water is terrible.

I have a couple of questions:

Will the color from the colored concrete filter out?

Is it ok to run the pump with the color/concrete in the water?

Do I need to drain the pool then clean it up and refill?

Please help, I'm new at this and I do not want to mess up my pump.

Thank you very much.

I cannot answer but perhaps Pooldoc, PoolSean, Waste or Waterbear can. Meanwhile check with your builder.

Meanwhile, my WAG (Wild-"Assisted"-Guess) is that it won't hurt your pump or filter and may well filter out, especially if the color is a suspension and not dissolved in the water.

I would definitely leave the pump running until the pool clears!

The 'accent' coloring will try to stain the waterline - Don't let it take a good hold, brush any areas that it accumulates!

We're talking about a dye for concrete, if you can keep it from 'settling' on the pool surface, it should not cause a persistent problem :)

Your filter should be able to take the dye out of the water.

Please let us know how things turn out.

[thanks for the faith in my knowledge Carl, the list was alphabetical - a little OCD??? :p]
